NOT EVEN A PENNY FOR THE CRUISE INDUSTRY!!! A RIGHT DECISION!!

The right decision at the right moment!!! The cruise industry, the same that uses the seas around the world as a trash can and emits Sulphur Oxide around the world will not receive a penny from the government relief package.

The massive $2-trillion coronavirus relief package signed into law Friday by President Trump will likely not set aside funding for one of the industries hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak: the cruise lines.

The government decision was not based on the damage that the cruise industry causes 365 days a year to the environment but was welcomed by ecologists and critics of these billionaire companies.

To have an idea of the continues damage done by cruisers, Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest luxury cruise operator, emitted nearly 12 times more Sulphur oxide (SOX) around European coasts than did 265 million European cars in 2019, a new analysis by sustainable transport group Transport & Environment reveals. Royal Caribbean Cruises, the world’s second largest, is second, yet four times worse than the European car fleet. SOX emissions form Sulphate (SO4) aerosols that increase human health risks and contribute to acidification in terrestrial and aquatic environments.

The massive $2-trillion coronavirus relief package signed into law Friday by President Trump will likely not set aside funding for one of the industries hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak: the cruise lines.

While the package — the biggest funding bill in U.S. history — is expected to help the ailing airlines and hospitality companies, cruise lines that have all but stopped sailing, including Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, don’t appear to qualify for loans or relief grants.

The stimulus package includes $500 billion in loans for struggling businesses, $377 billion in loans and grants for small businesses, $150 billion for local, state and tribal governments facing a drop in revenue and $130 billion for hospitals dealing with an onslaught of patients.

But fortunately, a segment of the funding bill that would apply to the cruise industry limits aid to “an entity or business that is domiciled in the United States with significant operations and employees located in the United States.” That restriction for sure will exclude companies such as Carnival Corp., Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
